Laura Lee Strickland, 88 of Wilmot, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Manor of Seagoville, Texas. She was a native of Wilmot, a homemaker and a member of John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Strickland; her parents Pat Stricklin and Loula Cunningham-Stricklin; one brother, Leon Strickland; and one sister, Martha Strickland-Smith.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Earl Strickland and spouse Alma of Toledo, Ohio, Chester Strickland and spouse Bobbie of Pine Bluff and Augusta Strickland of Carrolton, Texas; four daughters, Louann McHenry and spouse Randolph of Mesquite, Texas, Deborah Mitchell of Dallas, Jewel Harris of Bossier City, La., and Carolyn Griffin and spouse Fredrick of Milwaukie; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and a number of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 15 at the John Wesley AME Zion
Methodist Church in Wilmot with the Rev. Paul Slack and Rev. Marilyn Beckley will be officiating.
Burial will be in Gospel Temple Cemetery near Wilmot.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday.
