The Babe Ruth League’s Memorial Day Tournament championship game came down to the Wild from El Dorado and the Sliderz from Crossett and Hamburg.
The Wild opened with their first batter, Robertson, reaching base. Murphy followed with a ground out to the second baseman, and Womack would pop out to the pitcher for the second. Dumas struck out for the third out, sending the Sliderz to bat. Plummer struck out , but when Brown took to the plate, he hit a home run. Hale had a line out to first base, and Sivils struck out to end the first inning with the Slidzers leading 1 to 0.
In the second inning, the Wild’s Lawrence hit a double, which allowed a runner to tie the game 1 to 1. The next batter, Parker, hit a double, which was followed by another hit that took the El Dorado team into the lead. Rothwell also got a hit and drove in the Wild’s third run. Swan made the first out for the Wild in the second inning. Stell got a hit and Rickman made the second out.
The next batter, Robertson, made the third out. Going into the bottom of the second inning, the score was 3 to 1. The Sliderz’s Vail worked a walk, and was followed by Wolfe, who struck out for the first out. Grubb likewise struck out, and McNemar earned the third Sliderz out.
