Crossett High School hosted its All-Sports Banquet at Crossett Middle School Thursday.
The coaches handed out awards for outstanding performances throughout the 2016-2017 school year.
The first sport to be recognized was soccer.
The Most Improved Player award for the girls’ team was Jayla Myers, who also won the Scholar Athlete award. The Leading Scorer Award went to Tramesha Lewis. Emily Gonzalez was the Defensive Most Valuable, and Candice Myers was the Offensive MVP. Anna Hammons was the overall Most Valuable Player.
The Eagles football team closed a good season under Coach Sonny Nason after making the playoffs. Football players who made the All-State team included Marcus Bornslater and Michael Jenkins. Those who made the All-Conference teams were included Bornslater, Tanner Courson, Michael Jenkins, Gregory Junior, Lawson, Kientre’ Maxie, Clayton Nelson and Kaylon Williams. Bornslater was named Defensive Back of the Year and Team MVP.
Other football awards included:
-Defensive MVP – Gregory Junior
-Offensive Player of the Year – Kaylon Williams and Kientre’Maxie.
-Newcomer of the Year – Javonte Jones and Joseph Monroe.
-Hammer Award — Randarius Terry and Tanner Courson
-Most Improved – S’Quan Duke and Bryson Gill
-Iron Man — Christian Heard
-Scout Team – Jorge Mondragon, Aaron Mashburn and Daylon Manning
-Scholar Athlete – Lawson.
-Coaches’ Awards – Marquan Bornslater, Sheffer Gavin, Ja’Vonn Watson, Austin Wilcox, Daryl Watt, Thomas Carter, Jaylon Woods and Sam Tucker.
-Eagle Award – Michael Thompson, Clayton Nelson, Khalil Ellis, Gage Terrell, Carson Gilbert and Seth Woods.
