Darlene Lawson, 70, of Parkdale, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Monticello. Mrs. Lawson was a native of Camden; a resident of Parkdale for the past year and a former resident of Hamburg, Montrose and Camden. She was a homemaker and she volunteered at Portland School and Portland Library. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was the Youth Group Leader for many years.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb Michael Spaulding; her father, Dallas Griffin; her mother and step-father, Odell and Bob Justice; her former spouse, Robert H. Spaulding and a step-son, J.T. Lawson.
Survivors include her spouse of 21 years, Lavan Lawson of Parkdale; two sons, Roby Spaulding and spouse, Patricia and Jamy Spaulding and spouse, Lorenda, all of Portland; a step-son, William Bo Lawson of Fayetteville; four step-daughters, Tracy Lawson of Hamburg; Sandy Brozewski, Corene Schmidt and Cindy Richter all of Racine, Wis.; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. May 13 at the Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Harris officiating.
Burial followed in the Portland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Taylor Spaulding, Jadon Spaulding, William Bo Lawson, Jerod Lawson, Greg Croswell and Matt Lawson.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Kelley, Joseph Peacock, Dewel Williamson, Franklin Ricks and Phillip Tanksley.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home, Hamburg.
