The Crossett School Board took the first step Monday toward giving teachers and staff a raise.
At the recommendation of Superintendent of Schools Gary Williams, the board voted to send a change in the teacher and classified staff pay schedule to the districtís personnel policy committee.
The change would add $2,000 to the base pay of certified teachers, which is an approximately 6 percent increase, Williams said.
Those with more experience would receive more of an increase, he said.
The change would also add a 6.4 percent increase to the base pay for all classified staff, though Williams said it would be capped at a maximum of an additional $2,000.
With the boardís tentative approval, the personnel policy committee can review the recommendation and come back to the board with any proposed changes or comments, Williams said.
