Members of the Crossett City Council said this week they plan to consider increasing ambulance rates at their next meeting.
The next meeting is Monday, March 20.
Fire Chief Bo Higginbotham had mentioned the possible need to raise rates at previous meetings, and at the council’s monthly finance meeting Monday he presented the members with a suggested rate sheet.
The last time ambulance rates were adjusted was five years ago, said Clark Terrell, who as the city’s financial consultant worked on the matter with Higginbotham.
“We need to be getting all we can out of the insurance companies,” Terrell said. “We have not raised the rates since 2012, and from what I can see, that means we have lost a lot of money because of that.”
