Bids were opened last week on work at the Port of Crossett.
Crossett Economic Development District executive director Mike Smith said Ideal Construction was the sole bidder for the $289,000 project, with about $270,000 designated for construction and the remainder for engineering costs.
He said the Ideal bid was $310,000, although company officials pledged they would work with the CEDF to bring the costs inline with the available funds.
Smith said the project, which involves replacing pilings and installing new bumper pilings at the port, is being funded by grants from the Delta Regional Authority and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.
“I feel pretty certain we’ll know in about two weeks” if Ideal can bring its proposal inline with the available budget for the project, Smith said, adding that, if the bid is accepted, then actual work could begin in early August.
