Judge orders reduction of bail in murder trial

Circuit Court Judge Don Glover reduced the bond for Jason Lee Johnson, a Hamburg resident facing a first-degree murder charge, from $250,000 to $50,000 following a June 2 hearing.

Johnson was able to make bail and he was released the same day, according to the Ashley County Sheriff’s Department.

Johnson, a teacher at Hamburg Middle School at the time of his arrest, admitted to shooting a neighbor during an afternoon disagreement on April 20 and he was then charged with first-degree murder.
